Impact of an elastic sphere with an elastic half space with a constant coefficient of friction: Numerical analysis based on the method of dimensionality reduction

| Sumario: | Title screen An impact of an elastic sphere with an elastic half space with a constant coefficient of friction is studied numerically using the method of dimensionality reduction. It is shown that the rebound velocity, angular velocity and hence the loss of kinetic energy during the impact, if written as proper dimensionless variables, are determined by a function depending only on the ratio of tangential and normal stiffness and a second parameter describing the friction properties of the contact. |
