The results of analysis of main trends in simulation of Flexible Alternative Current Transmission Systems as well as the challenges of their adequate simulation are presented in this paper. The necessity of development of new methods and tools for retrieval of information required for evaluation of mutual influence between Flexible Alternative Current Transmission Systems and alternating current systems is shown. The concept of hybrid simulation for designing of Static Synchronous Compensator model as the most functional devices of Flexible Alternative Current Transmission Systems technologies and their simulation result are given in the paper. The obtained results prove the advantages of hybrid simulation approach for continuous three-phase real time simulation without decomposition of processes on an unlimited interval in the Static Synchronous Compensator model for implementation in large power system models.
