The article presents the vision of the means to organize collaborative activity within nowadays active teaching methods. Enhanced collaborative learning practices will reveal their potential for students’ soft-skills formation as one of the main goals in contemporary education. The article focuses on active teaching methods as case study and problem-based learning which positively influence the development of collaborative learning process and result in a new level of collaborative activity achieved. Such results stem from collaborative activity intentionally organized by teacher as it provides the opportunities for students to set collaborative activity in a particular way. The research results will enable us to trace the connection between purposeful organisation of collaborative activity by a teacher and new level of learner’s participation in collaborative activity. The authors provide the theoretical background, cases from real teaching practice and some recommendations for teachers organising collaborative learning on the choice of the appropriate interaction model.
