Summary:Title screen
The design and the operation of a highvoltage pulser based on a coaxial pulse-formingline with an incorporated Tesla transformer usingan open ferrite magnetic core are described. Thecharacteristics of the generated pulses whose peakvoltage reached values from tens to hundreds ofkilovolts have been measured and analyzed. It hasbeen shown that the ferrite magnetic core substantiallyaffected the pulse shape and length. Partialscreening of the internal part of the magnetic coreallows one to substantially stabilize the outputpulses and estimate the dynamic characteristics ofthe pulse-forming line. The energy efficiency of thepulser has also been estimated. It has been shownthat the machine is capable of transferring up to80% of the energy stored in a 100-Ohm pulseformingline to a 40.4-Ohm transmission line carryinga matched load.
