The rehabilitation of children with disabilities based on biomechanical regularities

The problem of overcoming social isolation as well as social, physical and psychological adaptation of people with disabilities is of great importance in Russia now. Adaptation is a complex multi-level socio-psychological process and is accompanied by a significant tension of compensatory-adaptive systems of the body that is especially important for children with disabilities. The adaptation process is accompanied by an increase of functional capacity of the structure and the improvement of its functioning. Due to the compensation some features may deplet, and the body proceeds its functioning on prepathological and pathological levels. To improve motor adaptation it requires physiological and biomechanical basics of movement be studied. The study group included 20 children suffering from cerebral palsy (CP) in the form of the spastic diplegia. The control group consisted of 10 children of the same age. A hardware-software complex with a video camera Phantom Miro EX2 was used to analyze biomechanical movements. Studying angle changes of the hip joint in walking on a flat surface, it was shown that children with CP have an angle value, which is significantly higher, while in the 4th phase of walking there was a sharp increase. While walking on a horizontal surface in children with CP, a larger flexion in the hip and shoulder joints and extension of the elbow occurred, at the same time, the movement of the lower limbs was less smooth, compared with the control group. Thus, in order to design the rehabilitation programs, it is necessary to take into account the biomechanical parameters obtained during the movement. The angle of the shoulder joint in children with CP was significantly higher, while the movement index changed smoothly as compared with the control group. On the other hand, the change of the angle of the elbow joint had lower values than in the group of healthy children. Thus, children with CP made smooth upper limbs movements, bending arms at the shoulder and unbending at the elbow joints.
