The reduction of emergency situations and increase of the pipeline serviceability is the main problem to be solved by project engineers. Hence, during the field development a corrosion wear and its effect on the pipeline should be taken into account as well as information on different events and future development of oil fields. The improvement of the pipeline reliability and the reduction of emergency situations can be achieved by taking extensive measures. All the pipeline parameters should meet the regulatory documents, so a series of experiments is required. This paper describes Maiskoe Oil Field (Tomsk region, Russia) as an example for the extensive measures that should be taken for the increase of the pipeline serviceability. The paper presents the problem of a possible use of high-head polyethylene pipes Anaconda for field pipelines in the conditions of their high water-cut levels. The role of Anaconda pipes in the pipeline reliability improvement is shown in this paper. Research results are given herein in relation to polyethylene and steel pipes affected by corrosion processes, and the inhibitor protective effect on them is described. Recommendations are given to project engineers of Maiskoe Oil Field on the improvement of the pipeline serviceability.
