The purpose of this paper is to provide an analysis of current the planning process in Russian enterprises and to find out the main features of the planning process in correspondence with the stages of management evolution. The research was conducted using post-evolutionary and sociological analysis. By analyzing the existing works we have identified the main characteristics of planning process in connection with the management development periods. Following the features of the planning we have defined the period that corresponds to the planning process at Russian enterprises. The results of the research can be used to develop the planning system at Russian enterprises, to make it effective and to predict future problems. This work was funded within the framework of realisation of Strategic Programme on National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University Competitiveness Enhancement in the Group of Top Level World Research and Academic Institutions.
