Modified Fast Search for Intra Prediction Modein H.265/HEVC Standard

The introduction of the newest H.265/HEVC video compression standardprovided a wide field for different research topics. The main goal isto reduce compression and decompression complexity making the wideusage of H.265/HEVC-based systems possible. In this paper we focuson the development of fast algorithm to find intra prediction mode fora coding unit. We propose a modification of the reference algorithmthat provides up to 45% speed up of compression time with only 2.49%bitrate overhead on average in "All Intra Main" configuration.
