Summary:	Title screen A technique of experimental strain measurementin the chip formation zone when free cutting copper of gradeM1 is considered in the paper. Digital image correlation wasused for the study. This method enables real time estimatingthe degree of material strain. Obtained results are moreprecise as if compared with those of grid method.
