The article analyses plot-building of the N. N. Berberova’s novella Rokanval (1936), the genetic pre-texts of which are deeply rooted in the works of I. A. Bunin andV. V. Nabokov. The artistic dialogue with the most significant representatives of bothelder and younger generations of literary emigration as well as self-citation becomethe forms of Berberova’s aesthetic self-reflection, connecting her identity in emigreliterature with the stylistic line defined by Khodasevich and Nabokov.
