The article initiates the question of modernist periodical literature in regard to the James Joyce novel “Ulysses” in the context of Reception theory in the USA, Europe and Russia. It also reflects on the circumstances the novel had been translated into French and Russian taking into consideration the very fact of their being close in time to the creation of Joyce’s novel made in the era of modernism common for both Europe and Russia. It also emphasizes their similar approach in the “Ulysses” translation.
