| Summary: | Title screen In orthopedic research, increasing attention is being paid to bioresorbable/biodegradable implants as analternative to permanent metallic bone healing devices. Biodegradable metal based implants possessing high strength andductility potentially can be used in load bearing sites. Biodegradable Mg and Fe are ductile and Fe possess high strength,but Mg degrades too fast and Fe degrades too slow, Ag is a noble metal and should cause galvanic corrosion of the moreactive metallic iron – thus, corrosion of Fe can be increased. Nanostructuring should results in higher strength and canresult in higher rate of dissolution/degradation from grain boundaries. In this work, a simple dissolution model ofheterogeneous three phase nanocomposite material is considered – two phases being metal Fe and Ag and the third –nanopores. Analytical solution for the model is presented. Calculations demonstrate that the changes in the relativeamount of each phase depend on mass exchange and diffusion coefficients.
