Summary:Title screen
We present experimental results of an investigation of the friction coefficient, microhardness, metallography, X-ray analysis and secondary ion mass spectrometry in R6M5, DU-55 and U-8 steels exposed to high power ion beams of nanosecond duration, with E = 0.2-0.6 MeV. A decrease in the friction coefficient under certain conditions and an increase in microhardness are demonstrated. Redistribution of elements, formation of craters and high compressive strains have been found in steels. The results of theoretical investigations and certain calculations qualitatively agree with the experimental results.
