| Sumario: | Title screen The present study is directed towards the modification of metal implant properties to produce predictable clinical results of implant osseointegration by developing a biocomposite ensuring both a higher bioactivity and prolonged antibacterial activity. Through the use of nanofabrication techniques a multifunctional biocomposite containing hydroxyapatite (HA) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) has been fabricated. Commercially pure titanium plates were used as substrates. PVP-coated silver nanoparticles were synthesized by wet chemical reduction method of silver nitrate (Fluker, p.a.) using glucose (D-(+)-glucose, Baker) as a reductant and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP K30 Povidon 30; Fluka, molecular weight 40000 g mol-1) as a stabilizer [1]. AgNPs were deposited onto the titanium substrate via dripping/drying technique and were further covered by CaP coating by means of RF-magnetron sputtering [2, 3]. A commercially available installation with a RF-magnetron source (COMDEL, 13.56 MHz) was used. |
