This work considers the problem of the optimal control of a water treatment plant. It examines the existingmathematical models of reverse osmosis membranes and the need for developing own mathematical model ofthese elements. Moreover, it mentions existing systems of automatic control for reverse osmosis elements.Finally, it presents the results of the comparison between the control efficiency achieved with PID-controllersand using the MPC on the reverse osmosis facility.
