In the framework of the Lagrangian formalism the partial differential equationunder study does not de?ne univocally the Lagrangian density. In this paperwe obtain a necessary and suf?cient consistency condition over the ansatz thatassures the invariance of the collective coordinates (CCs) equations under thechange of equivalent Lagrangian densities. When this condition is not ful?lledwe show explicitly that different equations of CCs may emerge from equivalentLagrangian densities and a good agreement between the CCs and the partialdifferential equations is not expected
