Various surface modification methods make elastic, plastic deformations and defects in the metal. They can have a certain effect on the sputtered coating and the response of living cells. By changing the relief, surface roughness and the value of the residual stress, it is possible to achieve a certain reaction of the cells. This report presents the results of a study of the influence of methods for modifying the surface of metals on the type and value of the formed residual stress.
