The influence of composition and structure of the surface layer of nitinol TiNi on the oxidation processunder isothermal heating in air is studied. It is shown that the transition from coarse-grained TiNi (d = 20...40μm) to submicrocrystalline (d= 0.6 μm) structure leads to increased thermal stability under isothermal heatingdue to the formation of more dense protective nanocrystalline oxide layer enhancing diffusion limits the process. It is established that the surface modification of TiNi with silicon ions leads to increase in heat resistance of the sample at temperatures less than 500 °C.
