Summary:Main factors influencing the functioning of activated sludge during the biological treatment of household wastewater have been considered. The optimal parameters (pH, temperature, the salinity, etc.) for functioning of active sludge biocenosis of examined part in stagnant system have been determined. On the basis of data obtained the construction of local treatment facilities for biological purification of objects of individual residential development in conditions of the Siberian region has been proposed. Operation of the treatment facilities is not limited by specific conditions and allows owners of households using sewage system in normal mode, including the use of surfactants and other active substances in quantities and concentrations appropriate for the conditions of homemaking.
