Current study is focused on energy cooperation as an important component of a comprehensive strategic partnershipbetween China and Russia. It is also the driving force source for the development and the maintenance of China-Russiarelations sustainable development. Nowadays, there have been fundamental changes in the structure of world energy.The energy problem is one of the most acute socio-economic and political problems of the modern world. Due to thelimited availability of hydrocarbon resources among the importing countries, competition for their ownership isexacerbated. At the same time, exporting countries use energy resources as an instrument of pressure in internationalrelations. In current paper, main challenges of energy sector, further prospects in this sphere, and new concepts ofcooperation between two countries are analyzed.
