Summary:The textbook provides a consistent discussion of the history of nuclear weapons development and proliferation at the initial stage; of the history of the Non-Proliferation Treaty and other treaties in the area of nuclear weapons, nuclear technologies and an analysis of nuclear material attractiveness, as well as international and national safeguards and their implementation. The book also covers nuclear disarmament and control, the problems of nuclear fuel cycle protection and self-protection. The textbook is aimed at students majoring in the area of nuclear power generation, and future specialists in the area of NM security and non-proliferation. The textbook was developed as part of the teaching material for a lecture course for engineers-physicists specializing in nuclear physics and technologies (institutional education program code 073400, code of specialization 651000). The book may be useful for senior undergraduate and graduate students studying non-proliferation of nuclear materials. This textbook was written by a group of authors at the Obninsk State Technical University of Nuclear Power Engineering (INPE) and the Moscow Engineering and Physics Institute (State University). The book published with support of International Science and Technology Center (1STC) Program "Responsible Science", project" Nonproliferation Culture".
