The article considers the levels of radioactive elements contents in the upland peat of Tomsk region. The mean contents of U and Th are 0,31 and 0,45 correspondently. U and Th tend to bound with organic matter of peat, thus they fixate well in the peat deposits. The artificial radionuclides 137Cs and Pu isotopes have been only studied in one bog located close to the nuclear facility of the Siberian Chemical Combine. As peat deposits can be used as archives of atmospheric depositions, the vertical distribution of radionuclides in a peat section of this bog allowed us to register the maximums of the radioactive cesium and plutonium fallouts
